What is it that keeps me here? When I could see you smile before it disappears. Into space, into space, we’ve just travellers on the way, To someplace, someday, where everything is crystal clear. Chorus: What does it take?
To make an escape? Still I want you… Try let me go, Forget it you know, Still I want you. Still I want you. But it’s alright, it’s only love. Pain that rushes in before we laugh it off. What you want, what you want is not someone that you’ve got, That’s too easy to let go, that’s too easy to control… Chorus: It’s too true to be good, too true to be good, Too true to be good, But still I want you.

Falling Up 05:14
I loved you before I knew your name You smiled and I was never the same Somehow I knew we'd meet again But it took some time Chorus: Falling, falling up x4 I want you to fall, I want you to fall around me And we'll feel what it feels like, what it feels like to be free x2 Got a feeling I'm into you Got a feeling that I'm moving too soon Got a feeling that it's pushing you away Just can't make you stay But I wanna make love for the first time, Wanna make love like it's the last time Got a feeling it's the right time for us Got a feeling it's the right time... Chorus: I loved you before I knew your name You smiled and I was never the same Somehow then I knew I'd be your man But it took some time Till you melt your heart

Old Soul 05:22
Old Soul, we meet again At the turn of your head With the sound of your voice In this I know I have no choice I have come to ride Once again by your side Once again we fly Through the lives in our eyes Soul of light Old soul, come around Feel the world slowing down Open up your heart Time to heal our old scars As we dance this sacred dance You are ageless in my hands Eons fold yet we remain At the birth of this flame Soul of light Nothing to hold, Now I'm drowning in fire. Nothing to hold, you're my crowning desire. Come back to me x 6

Wild Heart 04:09
You love her You leave her You'll teach her Home breaker Deal maker I'll save her Chorus: Where did you go? Cry you don't know Into the Wild Heart Lonely smile Staying a while Into the Wild Heart You see her You free her You need her Star gazer Thrill chaser I'll save her Chorus: I let you walk away into the night, Into the Wild Heart I let you walk away into the light, Into the Wild Heart

about

While most of his fellow law graduates were hard at work studying for exams or out drinking, Joe was more likely to be found back at college, cradling a guitar and teaching himself the craft of songwriting. He began writing songs at the start of his degree and when he graduated 5 years later, he had written over 150 songs on guitar and piano and completed his first EP ‘Time Ticks A Way’

Now, he’s gone back to the basics. After having played around with all the latest toys for music making, he’s come home again to his first instrument, the piano.

Recorded on an April day, these tracks embody a soulful side of Joe and tell a story about love, longing and the surrender to possibility. These songs are all connected to real romance, written in the bloom of Melbourne springtime and the subsequent peace of falling leaves in autumn.

In Joe's words:

"The title track is an ode of yearning, written quickly, a romantic chord progression billowing to flame the obsession of frustrated romance. “What does it take - to make an escape?” I had to thump the chords of the chorus as if the twisted torture of unrequited love could find some peace in the unresolved mantra: “Still I Want You…” Too soon the song is finished, idly ended like the wasted potential of all unbalanced romance.

‘Falling Up’ is earmarked to reappear on an LP later this year, albeit with more than a simple piano and vocal arrangement. The infinitely recurring chorus demands an escape from the pressures of modern day existence by offering instead the surrender of love. The reward of shared vulnerability is true expression, the practice of playfulness and illuminated, clear relationships.

For years I’d been jamming on something like ’Old Soul,’ but playing it for my partner-to-be this song was written to commemorate the vision of potentially connecting our lives together - past, present and future. We actually wrote it together! It marks for me the magic of those times which seemed so fateful and conspired to eventually happen - we’re now celebrating two years of love (the spark) thanks to an epic friendship (the flint).

‘Wild Heart’ was written about a kind of acceptance with the comings and goings of love. Beginning life as a bizarre improvisation, the lyrics came in bursts, much later down the track. It’s about how easy it is to become so rigidly attached to someone that you can’t imagine living without them. But we’re also always having a love affair with the universe itself - and if we don’t treat our world right, it’ll shy from us. So in some senses this song is a reminder for me that wherever we find love, we’re also loving the Wild Heart of the universe itself.
